Ohana College Staff

Kelly Chambers is the Principal of Ohana College and brings more than 12 years of experience in the Special Assistance School sector. She has dedicated her career to creating safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments where young people can thrive both academically and personally. Kelly began her journey in the sector during the establishment of a Special Assistance School in Goodna and most recently spent nine years at Kairos Community College. Her leadership is grounded in the belief that every student deserves to feel safe, respected and connected to their school community.

Currently completing a PhD focused on how school structures and systems influence support for young people in Special Assistance Schools, Kelly is passionate about improving educational outcomes and opportunities for all students. Outside of work, Kelly enjoys spending time with her family, camping, hiking and practising martial arts, which she has pursued for more than 25 years.

Sarah Hann is the Deputy Principal, Junior School, at Ohana College. She is passionate about fostering a supportive and positive learning environment where every student feels encouraged to achieve their personal best. Sarah believes all students deserve access to a high-quality education that nurtures both academic growth and individual potential.

Sarah began her educational journey in New Zealand, completing a Bachelor of Education (Teaching). She has experience working with disengaged youth and students from diverse cultural backgrounds, which has shaped her inclusive and student-centred approach to leadership. She is deeply committed to supporting not only academic excellence but also the social and emotional wellbeing of every child.

In her role as Deputy Principal, Junior School, Sarah works closely with staff, students, and families to ensure engaging, high-quality teaching and a strong sense of community across the school.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys watching and playing sport and spending time with friends and family.

Natalie Bolger is the Deputy Principal, Senior School, at Ohana College. She is passionate about creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every student feels valued and can find their own success.

Natalie trained to teach in the United Kingdom and holds a Master of Educational Leadership and Management as well as a Graduate Certificate in Trauma-Aware Education. Having worked in a number of special assistance schools, Natalie is experienced in working with young people with diverse needs and those who have become disengaged from traditional schooling. She is passionate about identifying barriers to learning and helping young people navigate and overcome those challenges so they can re-engage with education and enjoy positive learning experiences.

Outside of her professional life, Natalie enjoys scuba diving, travelling, video gaming and musical theatre.

 


Aaron Devine is a leading education executive, with over 20 years as a senior leader of some of Australia’s largest and most innovative educational providers.

Aaron is committed to supporting students achieving their goals and in seeking to ensure all students have access to quality education irrespective of social, emotional or financial barriers.

Aaron is a respected Educational consultant working in tertiary and school education. Until October 2016, Aaron led TAFE Queensland Brisbane in the role of General Manager. Aaron was also the Chief Executive Officer for the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE, and Pro Vice Chancellor at Charles Darwin University. He worked as a Solicitor in Victoria where he practiced in Commercial Law, Civil Litigation and Employment Law. Aaron served as a Senior Adviser to the former Premier of Tasmania, the Hon Jim Bacon AC and Senior Policy Adviser to the Paul Wriedt MHA when he was the Tasmanian Minister for Vocational Education and Training.

Steph Blunt is an experienced education and wellbeing leader with expertise in trauma-aware practice, youth engagement, and alternative education. With more than a decade of senior leadership experience across education and community sectors, she has led multidisciplinary teams spanning multiple campuses and community youth centres.

Steph has been instrumental in developing and implementing innovative approaches to student wellbeing, including trauma-aware frameworks, restorative practices, and place-based models that reconnect young people with learning, belonging, and community. Her work has encompassed organisational strategy, program design and evaluation, safeguarding, inclusion, system reform, and co-design initiatives.

Known for combining strategic leadership with authentic, relationship-centred practice, Steph is passionate about creating environments where young people and practitioners can thrive, particularly those who have experienced adversity, disengagement, or complex life challenges.

Outside of her professional work, Steph is the proud mother of two adult children and enjoys powerlifting, bushwalking, and spending time immersed in nature.

 

Dr Mark Yeowell is an experienced executive, educational and operational leader with more than 30 years’ experience across schools, not-for-profit organisations and education-focused businesses. As Chief Operating Officer, he oversees the systems, structures and processes that support effective operations, strong governance and sustainable growth.

Mark’s career includes principal and senior leadership roles in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Australia, spanning state, independent, urban, rural and specialist school settings. He has also served as CEO of a large education-focused not-for-profit organisation, bringing expertise in strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement and organisational improvement.

In addition to his education leadership, Mark has founded and operated education, retail and professional learning ventures. He is an experienced speaker and facilitator on digital wellbeing and digital parenting, informed by his doctoral research into young people’s lives with technology. Mark brings a strategic and operational perspective, connecting risk, compliance, technology, policy and business development to strengthen organisational capacity and support positive outcomes for young people.

Fiona Duncan is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Ohana for Youth, encompassing Arcadia College and Ohana College, bringing over 16 years of senior leadership experience across operations, HR, and organisational development. In her role, she oversees the systems, people, and processes that enable the organisation to deliver high-quality education and youth services, working closely with the Executive Principal and CEO to drive strategic and sustainable growth.

Known for her strong operational rigour and people-centred leadership style, Fiona excels in translating organisational vision into effective day-to-day execution. She is highly skilled in change management, stakeholder engagement, and building cultures where staff feel supported, empowered, and aligned to shared goals.

Fiona is deeply committed to improving outcomes for young people on the Gold Coast. Through her operational leadership, Arcadia College and Ohana College continue to strengthen program delivery, enhance student support, and expand their positive impact across the community.

Jenny is the Chief Financial Officer for Arcadia College, Ohana College and Ohana for Youth. With over 20 years of senior financial leadership experience, she has worked extensively across education, not-for-profit, and corporate sectors. Jenny holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Griffith University and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA). In her role, Jenny leads financial strategy, corporate governance, payroll, and budgeting. She has significant experience in both school and higher education environments. Jenny is known for her clear and strategic approach to financial management, strong governance skills and commitment to sustainable growth. Jenny is passionate about supporting youth-focused programs. She believes that responsible financial stewardship plays a vital role in enabling schools and organisations to deliver meaningful outcomes. Her leadership helps ensure that resources are effectively managed to benefit students and the wider community.

Mia Thomas is Head of Marketing, leading the strategic direction of marketing and communications across Arcadia College, Ohana College, and the organisation’s Distance Education programs. She plays a key role in strengthening brand presence and connection across a growing network of special assistance schools and youth services.

With more than 20 years of experience spanning education, retail, franchising, and the sporting sector, Mia is passionate about building meaningful, purpose-led brands that connect with people and create genuine impact. Her career has been shaped by delivering commercially grounded strategies, authentic brand storytelling, and integrated marketing initiatives that drive results.

Mia brings expertise in strategic leadership, brand development, and campaign delivery, balancing creativity with clear outcomes. She is motivated by seeing positive growth, whether in a brand’s reputation, a team’s confidence, or a community’s connection to shared purpose, and is committed to marketing that truly makes a difference in young people’s lives.
