Ohana College is a growing Co-Ed Independent Secondary Special Assistance School for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling, we’re currently located at Parkinson near Brisbane, Queensland. We are currently in the process of building our stunning, purpose built Secondary College to be based in Logan and opening in 2023.

Ohana College bases its philosophy on establishing positive and respectful relationships between adults and students to maximize engagement, emotional well-being and academic achievement in a strong welfare based environment.

Due to substantial growth and high demand for our services we are employing a Student Engagement Officer (SEO) who will be an integral part of the School’s welfare team. A SEO is responsible for managing and supporting student engagement and wellbeing within individual classes. The position also involves managing student attendance, implementing reset/re-engage strategies and facilitating the implementation of student support plans within the class through positive intervention and close communication with parents and carers.

Selection Criteria :

  1. Degree or Diploma in related discipline.
  2. Working knowledge and experience with Trauma-Informed Care.
  3. Understanding of mandatory reporting requirements in an educational setting.
  4. A proven & demonstrated ability to successfully engage young people in relevant and dynamic learning.
  5. Experience working with young people at-risk and students with disabilities.
  6. Understanding of social and emotional learning in a Secondary School context.
  7. Workplace resilience and an ability to work under pressure.
  8. Paid (P) current Qld Working With Children Blue Card.
  9. Clear Federal Police Check.
  10. Fully COVID Vaccinated.

Applicants are to supply their resume and in a covering letter,  responses to the selection criteria above, along with details of three professional referees. This is a part time, term time only role 5 days per week 8.00 am until 3.00 pm –32 hours per week. Position to commence asap.
